As our Copywriter, you will report to the Director of Marketing & Content and play a key role in writing, managing and updating content for our app, website, and marketing campaigns. You’ll work with a skilled and experienced team and develop a comprehensive understanding of the processes necessary to bring digital products to life.

Work/Project Scope:

• Create the following persona-based long-form assets to drive customer engagement, acquisition, and retention: 
• SEO articles
• Case studies
• Blog posts
• White papers, ebooks and guides
• Executive thought-leadership bylines
• Digital content experiences
• Develop compelling stories and inform content creation by leveraging relevant research to understand the needs of potential and existing customers, as well as collaborating with internal and external subject-matter experts to understand industry concepts and trends.
• Position the company's key messaging, value propositions and differentiators in compelling ways and incorporate these elements into content assets as appropriate.
• Work cross-functionally with content, marketing, communications, and creative teams to develop content assets that contribute to and enhance integrated marketing campaigns.
• Update, rewrite, and optimize existing content to improve performance and search ranking.
• Write engaging copy for social media
• Learn and maintain the company’s tone and voice.  

Must Haves (Required Skills):

• Background in SEO
• Skilled at interviewing subject matter experts, leadership, community members, and more, and turning their stories into compelling narratives
• Strong portfolio with a wide range of content
• Experience with writing copy for social platforms
• B2B and B2C experience

The SEO Lead function is responsible for collaborating cross-functionally to grow organic traffic across all Shopify properties on the Content & SEO team. They will be successful at planning and executing against strategic initiatives that will extend Shopify’s organic reach to bring more merchants onto the platform via experimentation. 

As an SEO Lead, you will be part of the Growth team. You will own and lead the roadmap for our Growth Tools portfolio and the SEO testing pipeline. Your aim will be to unlock new levers for growth for the team to help scale the program. You will define OKRs for the team and seek to achieve those targets. You will focus on fostering an org-wide agile mentality, be able to make smart decisions quickly using data, and lead key initiatives that drive business impact.
