We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- University degree or equivalent.
- Five years’ experience, including three in broadcasting or a related field, directly relevant to the assignment.
- Strong team leadership skills with the ability to inspire others.
- Demonstrated talent as a programmer with an ear for pacing, tone, presentation and production.
- Superior writing, editorial and production skills; interest in cross-platform media production.
- Solid journalistic background.
- Ability to choose relevant, audience-focused stories that reflect issues being discussed by the public.
- Ability to quickly react and respond to breaking stories.
- Knowledge of events and issues of interest in the Outaouais and eastern Ontario.
- Demonstrated skills in the area of conflict resolution, mentoring, talent recognition and development.
- Ability to innovate and take risks.
- A commitment to reflecting community and diversity.

Your Role:
- Assist in developing program content including writing, researching, gathering and/or editing; ensure adherence to the style and format of the program.
- Work with a team to reach new audiences on more than one platform.
- Direct and/or support a program, either live or pre-packaged, in studio or at a remote location.
- Edit and mix programs or program segments. Ensure that content meets programming and strategic goals, achieving optimum results.
- Gather, edit, digitize and package content to promote CBC programs and activities for the website and social media platforms.
- Organize the participation of interviewees, creative contributors and other participants, develop background, introduction and line of questioning, conduct or arrange for any necessary research and ensure the briefing of hosts.
- Assist in maintaining a level of communication or rapport with members of the audience which is both feasible and appropriate to the style and nature of the program.

The Producer is expected to contribute significantly to the editorial direction of the show. This includes producing broadcast and online-specific stories and segments and sourcing TV material in order to promote and capitalize on significant news and the most influential guests. An interest in and knowledge of politics in Canada and the United States is essential for this role, and experience covering politics an asset.
